The dad was living in another country, so the mom decided to make the son’s bedroom special by bringing the shared bond of sailing in. Since mom’s favourite colour was blue, the design was a smooth sail (pun intended).

The walls around the bed were screaming to be filled with something. I changed the position of the bed and created a wrap around mural – a single image that spans over multiple walls. Having the scene blown-up among the two perpendicular walls gave the mural a dynamic quality, where I could explore a fun sun shining its rays across the walls and having the ocean to fill the lower portion of the mural, where the geometric boat would be placed.

The overall feeling of calm was achieved and the bedroom had the finished feel without anything else being added, other than some paint on the walls and a revised furniture layout.
