This family had an incredible space in their basement: a sprawling kids’ playroom with a lounging area, pretend play zone, and a fully equipped sensory gym — aerial silk, gymnastics rings, rope ladder, Pikler triangle, gymnastics mat and all. A dreamy setup for anyone navigating Canadian winters with young kids.
But big spaces come with big walls — and big questions. What do you do with them?
That’s where I came in. Rather than cluttering the walls with décor or painting them a single flat colour, I designed a custom wraparound playroom mural that transformed the entire space. Vibrant tropical florals in pink, teal, purple, coral, and gold swept across every wall, creating an immersive botanical world that activated and animated the room from every angle.
The result was exactly what the space needed to feel truly complete. The hand-painted mural brought intentional colour and energy to a room that was already full of movement — the bold shapes and playful design layout spark kids’ imagination every time they walk in.
And there’s a little magic hidden in these walls too. During the installation, each child got to write their name directly on the wall — a secret that was painted over, layer by layer, over the days of work. Their names are still there, forever tucked beneath the colours. A hidden treasure that only they know about.
